Cancer genetics involves the study of genetic factors that contribute to the development and progression of cancer. Some of the different types of cancer syndromes are:

  • Hereditary cancer syndromes: BRCA1/BRCA2 mutations, Lynch syndrome, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)
  • Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) Syndromes
  • Rhabdoid Tumor Predisposition Syndromes
  • Li-Fraumeni syndrome, Cowden syndrome, retinoblastoma, Wilms tumor predisposition, Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Syndrome, Bloom syndrome,etc.
  • Family history of cancer (1 or more type)
  • Early onset of cancer
  • Hematological malignancies: Fanconi anemia
